MAKEUP IS ART.
When I like to post the good ol' selfie on any of my social media accounts, the one thing I can always expect is some sort of compliment towards the lipstick I wear. I now consider that both lipstick and my space buns are my trademarks, tehe.
I thought it would only be fitting to do a little blog post about the make up I use, which happen to be my current favourites!
So, without further ado, here goes...
It would be silly to start with anything but lipstick. My absolute FAVourite piece of make up, ever. Most people say they can't live without one piece of makeup, and lipstick is my choice.
Now, when you take a look through my lipstick collection (which is fairly big, oops), there is a trend. That being that many are from the same brand. That being KIKO *heart eyes*.
Pictured above are my favourites from my lipstick collection. Can I just say, it was sO difficult to pick these out because I truly love all of my lipsticks, awh. So, as I said before, you can see that majority of my favourites are from KIKO, a brand I only found out about when a friend of mine took me into the store. I had seen the brand before, walked past the stores a few times but I always assumed it was some overpriced, elite makeup brand that I just simply couldn't pull off, let alone afford. HOW WRONG WAS I?! I now spend a good bit of dollar in their stores, but when they have lipsticks for as little as £3.96, how can I say no?! Plus, they do a lot of offers throughout the year, where you can get a lot of their cosmetics for around the £1 mark!
Along with my favourite KIKO lipsticks are my other must haves. On the far left is a nude shade lipstick, one that only cost me 99p from Bodycare! Absolute bargain, and the lipstick is decent, too! I love it when I can find something cheap that still gives you great quality, and things like that, I just can't pass! Plus, nobody can ever have too many nude shades, absolute must haves.
On the far right is the newest addition to my collection. I got a bit brave with this and tried out the Sleek brand. I fell in love with the colour of the lip cream (436 Birthday Suit) and MATTE. I LOVE MATTE LIPSTICKS, MY HEART. I also, along with this one, purchased two of the Gloss Me lipglosses (21 Hawaii Honey and 25 Phoenix Rising), which I love but I have to be in a certain mood to choose lipgloss over lipstick! I actually tried the Sleek Matte Me lip cream for the first time today and I have to say, I'm impressed. Firstly, the application, mmm. It's so smooth and satisfying, and the matte quality, 11/10 would recommend. Secondly, the colour only gets better when it's on your lips and YES, I SHALL BE BUYING THIS AGAIN.
Finally, an old school love affair is the Maybelline Super Stay 24 Color. Now, if you're looking for a long lasting lipstick, I. CANNOT. RECOMMEND. THIS. ENOUGH. It is literally like a tattoo, IT DOESN'T COME OFF. Like, I even have trouble getting it off with makeup remover at the end of the day. It's also one of those that when I've gone to bed (accidentally) with my makeup on, my lipstick is still looking on fleeeeeek the next morning. Not to mention the endless amount of shades that it comes in. This particular one is the 340 Absolute Plum, and I also have a shade of red in it, too! Highly recommend for any sort of event, as there's no reapplication needed!
Anyway, enough obsessing over lipstick, lets look at what else I am completely in love with.
Continuing on from earlier on when I mentioned that I love a good bargain, here is where the good deals strike again. Makeup Revolution, take all my money. This is yet another brand that I discovered through a friend (the same one who introduced me to KIKO, too. Thanks, Amber!) and I've been using their eyeshadows palettes ever since. Of course, they do an entire range of makeup but as of yet, I've only purchased and used their eyeshadows because LOOK AT THE PRETTY COLOURS. The first one I purchased was the one shown in the above image, Essential Mattes. Everybody needs a good ol' section of browns and creams and blacks, gotta get on that smokey eye life.
Following the success of the first palette, I wanted to delve into something a little more brave, and get some colour up in 'ere. So, I went for the Mermaids vs Unicorns palettes, pictured below. I FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS ONE EVEN MORE. The colours are so bright and well pigmented, keeping their shiny bright shades when transferred from the palette onto your eyelid and THEY SO PRETTY. My particular favourites to use are the greens and the dark plum kinda colour. Super, duper pretty.
Staying with eyes, next I'm going to please you with what I choose to do the rest, eyeliners and mascaras, woohoo!
Starting off with mascara, I had for a long time been using the Soap and Glory's Thick and Fast mascara from the ever-so-popular huge gift boxes they always sell a tonne of at Boots around Christmas time. It was my saviour for a good while until I found, go on, take a guess, KIKO mascara, haha. After experiencing the success with the lipsticks, I thought I'd explore a little more into the rest of the makeup that the brand sell, and so when they were having one of their little sales, as I mentioned earlier, I picked up some mascara. Along with that, I decided to go ahead and try some eyelash treatment stuff they also sold, claiming to lengthen your eyelashes in just 15 days!
On the left in the mascara, the Luxurious Lashes, which states that its all extra volume and that. You know, you've heard it all before when you see the superimposed advertisements on the tele, but in the small print is says the model is wearing eyelash extensions. WELL SAY HELLO TO THIS MASCARA WHICH MAKES IT LOOK LIKE YOU'RE WEARING FALSIES. I was skeptical, I always am when it comes to mascara because I always think like, how do these things differ? It's just black stuff that goes on your eyelashes. But my gosh, this is heaven. No clumps, no heaviness, just pure wonder when your eyelashes are lengthened so beautifully and bam, your eyes look amazing.
You could probably say that I like this mascara. Just a *little bit.
*very big
Beside the mascara is the pictured the eyelash treatment that I decided to try. I don't know if it's one of those things, like a placebo, where I'm expecting my eyelashes to look longer because that's what it's supposed to do but I think it's worked, okay? Leave me alone. But yeah, anyway, you put this thing on every night, and there's also a day one as well, but yeah. I'm sure it works. Take my word for it. Oh, and you can also use it on your eyebrows, apparently.
And the grand finale is the thing that I still have difficulty with applying, eyeliner!
I know I'm not alone when I say that I completely suck at applying eyeliner, but I'm getting better! I have tried many different ways, from the felt tip liners, to the gel liners and yes, I have to say that gel liners are my preferred choice.
I have two favourite gel liners, the Technic gel eyeliner in black and the Rimmel London gel eyeliner in Emerald, oooo fancy. I adore both of these liners because how can you not love something that just stays on alllllll day?! Particularly the Rimmel London one, which I do wear more often because of its colour. I say emerald and it probably sounds super scary but its so subtle that it's one of those things that when the light catches it, bam, super pretty green eyeliner. Aw yis.
However, even though I'm gel eyeliner trash, I still enjoy the simplicity and the quickness of the Collection Fast Stroke liquid liner. I tend to put this one when I'm in a hurry but it's completely smudge proof, and another that lasts the entire day. Not only that, you know what I'm going to say, IT'S SO CHEAP!
After reading this post, you can see that I'm not makeup guru. I actually fear spending too much money on makeup and so that's why I try and go for the cheaper alternatives to things. Meh, people can say what they like about quality and stuff but myself, I can't justify spending so much money on products to put on my face. I never go over the top with makeup, I don't wear it most days which I believe is good for my face (as I'm terrible with breakouts. My skin is ew).
But hey, this was just a little fun and now you can see why my face isn't as good as some peoples but ah, whatever.
Enjoy! x
